Happy New Year!
Invest in yourself!
The economic times are tough. But it is important for you to keep up with one key investment - YOU! Taking care of yourself means you will come out the other side stronger, healthier and happier. Resolve to invest in yourself in 2009. I do not have much to invest - but I am going to vow to invest in myself this year. It may be simple - like time for ME- alone. It may be a healthy investment like organic blueberries - which I love. It may be technical - like $5 a week on 5 iTunes songs to reward myself when I get my 5 miles in each day. Music inspires me and helps me to push harder when I am working out. You find what works for you and what you can do to invest in making you a better YOU! You will feel better and we should compare notes along the way! Email me with your "investment" and I'll share here on the blog!

Together we are better!

Take my 31 Day Challenge!

Change is good! I challenge you to change!
Do something you don't usually do -

or stop doing something you should.

Change it up!

Vow to do something different each day in the month of January.
Keep a list of what you do each day. Send it to me in February!
I'd love to see it!

Actually schedule a NAP!

Go to church.

Call an old friend.
WRITE someone a letter.
Schedule a physical or mammogram if you need one!

Log off the computer 2 hours early one night!

Ban Spongebob and play a game with your kids.

Go to a movie in the middle of the day - alone!

Take a bubble bath.
Drink de-caf tea before bed.
Cut out red meat.
Join a group, bible study or the gym.

Take interest in a new hobby.
Take yourself on a pic-nic.
Walk on the beach or build a snowman (where ever you live)
Listen to music really loud!
Clean your closet.
Start your own blog!
Plan a trip and start to save for it.
Try a new food.

Have fun - it's a New Year!
A Time For Change!

What Makes You - YOU?
As we traveled to Lake Havasu to see Stace's parents on Monday, I pondered this question. I made this wall to tell you a bit about what makes Me - ME.

I desperately wanted Stace to take our sons and go see his parents. I know my desires were purely selfish. I need a break. I am wearing out. I just wanted to have the house to myself - go to my parents and relax. He refused - as he always does when it comes to doing things alone. It is a fear of his, I guess. I am his support system - if things go wrong - he can blame it on ME. I tried to go with a good attitude although I feared the long drive with 4 boys and 1 girl, Stace and myself. I just knew someone would have to complain or fight about something. We took Taylor and Nikki, I think Taylor knew that this may be the last time he would see his Grandma. She is not well and it was sad to see how she has declined at only 72 years old. She has early onset Altzheimers and Chrone's Disease. She is very thin only 84 pounds and was very quiet. At times she did not appear to be "there". She tired easily and had not remembered Stace was in an accident. She cried when Stace hugged her when we left, and looked like a child. I felt a stirring in my heart and felt guilty for being selfish and wanting him to "go it alone". I fear too, that her days here on earth are almost done. I pray for her salvation.

We are home now and settling in for a quiet New Year's Eve in our jammies in front of the fire. We were invited to the Kasten's New Year's Eve Party and I would love to go - but the kids are tired from the trip and I would be too tempted by her awesome cooking!

I did okay while there - I even walked! I only got 4 miles in today as we were traveling. I'll have to make it up tomorrow!

I have come up with some fun tidbits to start the New Year -
I hope you will enjoy!

I'll add them later...
Have a great New Year's Eve - be safe!

Almost a NEW YEAR - almost a NEW ME!

I know it is not the NEW YEAR yet - but I have been inspired by three souls to get a jump start on the
"NEW ME"

I owe it to two old friends for encouraging me and helping me to find myself again.
Thank you - A.C.
and C.I. !!

I also owe it to an "angel" who has gifted me the ability to go to
Jenny Craig to help me be the "best me" I can be!
I officially started my 1200 calorie diet today.
I walked 6 miles and burned nearly 600 calories!
That is half of my intake! I am really excited to see my transformation.
I am determined to get fit and feel great - not to mention looking
great again!
I have not felt HOT for a long time. It seems that I have no ME time.
I am going to "schedule" me time. I need to take care of ME so that
I can be all that everyone needs me to be!
So you will see less of me in 2009!
I am determined to lose 27 pounds and walk 35 miles each week!
Pray for my success!
A new year, a new me, a new career!
XOXO
Janean

My Fitness Goal for the week is to walk 35 miles. Watch my progress!

My Weight Loss Goal is to lose 27 pounds by Valentine's Day!
